NaloxoneSigners

Dear Congresswoman/Congressman/Senator  X  ,

Exactly 5 years ago we changed the State Of The Union address with a late addition for the Opioid Epidemic. Full Story. We’re asking again that on February 7th, President Biden appeal for immediate funding – this time for Fentanyl Fathers to warn every high schooler in America directly, in person, about Fentanyl’s imminent threat to their life.

As you may know, Monday (1/31/23) Cathy McMorris Rodgers held a tech roundtable on Fentanyl. Today, (2/2/23) we are meeting with Senator Tammy Baldwin’s team to consult on how best to present to Wisconsin’s High Schools and to re-introduce Bruce’s Law, which Fentanyl Father Sandy Snodgrass created last year.

While Big Tech can help, respectfully and from experience we can assure you it falls far short of solving the problem. Other wise the $6 Billion we raised in 2018 that was blown on PSAs would have put a bigger dent into this crisis. OD deaths did decrease significantly that year according to the CDC, but it was not nearly a fix. The good news is we finally figured it out. It’s not laziness by simply buying media – but hard, organized, COMMITTED work via in person school assembly presentations by bereaved parents like us.

We’re Fentanyl Fathers, Fentanyl’s MADD.org, and we need your help.

Why you?

You showed your fentanyl cards face up when you signed your name to all Naloxone manufactures.

Fentanyl killed my precious son, so I co-founded Fentanyl Fathers as a positive path forward. (My other co-founders are CC’d).

Our mission is to warn America’s High Schoolers via in person efficacious assemblies. They DO work, which we also know by experience.

The Ad Council and Meta (Facebook) are encouraging parents to ‘Drop The F*Bomb’ with their kids (Fentanyl being the F*Bomb). Respectfully, that is more of the same. 2018 called, and they want their failed strategy back. Expect only a minor decrease in deaths. It’s not enough.

BUT – our High School Assemblies blow kids away! Afterward they’re more likely to drink gasoline than they are ingest a non-prescribed pill. NO ONE has died in the schools we present to after our 1 hour “show”.

In less than an hour we cover Dead On ArrivalParents (LIVE TESTIMONY), Facts, Q&A, Declare “I’ll never try…”, FREE Naloxone, and done. (NARCAN is behind us on this initiative, so is ZIMHI and Hikma.) It really works. Our #1 student feedback is “OMG! I had NO idea!!”

Next week we are filming (date TBD tomorrow) a typical assembly at Brother Rice High School in Bloomfield Township, Michigan and we’ll will be happy to upload and share the experience with you. Media and your colleagues John James (Brother Rice Alumnus) and Senator Gary Peters have indicated they’ll attend – schedule permitting on a Monday or Friday. Minimally they’ll have a representative there. This will empower you to get behind us by endorsement and opening any other doors in the state you may feel comfortable opening for us.

If the long shot SOTU late addition doesn’t work, here is what we’ll need: 1) Fast track financing grant help to hit all 25,077 schools US Schools, starting with 50 State Directors, including your home state of X . We’re a 501c3 initiative of the National Defense Foundation. 2) Overcoming School Reluctance with either mandating Fentanyl Awareness – like San Diego County has already done, or offering a $1,000 scholarship to schools that have already experienced a student’s Fentanyl death. The scholarship will be named in the deceased student’s honor. Optimally the lost kid’s parent will deliver the assembly message, already set up for him or her with the exception of their own personal story 3) A talented sales team to recruit bereaved parents – by FAR the most effective presenters. We’ll also need data – their cell phone numbers. There were 220,000 new ones created last year from the brand new record of 110,000+ deaths in 2022.

Next steps: A zoom scheduled with your team to brainstorm solutions to our challenges for your state. Minimally we request to be heard in a meeting with you. We have to move on this and we don’t have the luxury of time. A kid dies every 5 minutes from Fentanyl. In your state of, __#__ died last year (or 2021 if only that data is available – google it).

We looking forward to a timely response – you of all people know how high the stakes are. Since you signed that Naloxone request letter in April 2022, 75,000 more Americans died. Obviously we need to move much faster.

Sincerely,

George, Paul, Ringo or John.

Assignments below:

4-12-22 “Today, U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) and Representative Carolyn B. Maloney (D-NY), Chairwoman of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform, along with Senators Maggie Hassan (D-NH) and Angus King (I-ME) and Representative Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA),  led a bicameral, bipartisan group of colleagues in sending letters to seven major manufacturers of naloxone, the opioid overdose reversal medication, urging them to apply for over the counter (OTC) status for their products to help increase access and save lives.”

Team, we have 33 letters to e-mail, then follow up with a phone call to their state office (they normally answer) during business hours.

Sandy, Greg, Jamie, Bob. Tom is on on temporary injured reserve but he can see how much work we have to do here. CC all including Tom with his new e-mail. Add Bob Carey to each email. Re-read before you send. You’ll need to fill in blanks for the state name and google the number who died in that state. Our goal is a zoom meeting, which we’ll then move to in person relationships and partner with willing elected officials who can help us. Remember what Sandy got done! Jack said these people can push grant money to the top for us from agencies.

Under each name I will give the Chief of Staff’s e-mail along with State Director, scheduler, and suggested phone number from my access to these.
