A DAY LATE AND A LIFE SHORT

It should have been a celebration of achievement – Fentanyl Fathers was finishing its final High School Assembly #62 yesterday in the Miami-Dade School District — graduating our last audience as “Fentanyl Free”. Media and even our starlets – Gabi & Stella – Founders of SAFE – were there.

Unbeknownst to our student audience at Coral Gables High, right before we went on stage, the Principal got a terrible text: A Senior, who was due to hear us in this very assembly – was found dead in his bed that morning. He “Never woke up.” Odds of the culprit being Fentanyl from a fake pill: 99%+. We can rule out heart attack, gun shot wound, cancer, car accident and old age. It’s Fentanyl, for sure in my experience.

The school I was speaking to did not even know they just lost one of their own. We were scheduled to be there a month earlier but the day we were to be on stage, a teacher at the school had just committed suicide and we were understandably rescheduled. Had that not happened, that Senior would have heard our fool-proof method of not dying from Fentanyl: “NO UNPRESCRIBED PILLS, period. 80% of them kill you.”

Instead, the headline today in Coral Gables is not that student who was poisoned – his obituary isn’t even public yet. The headline is about the death of Daniel Bishop.  Daniel survived the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland Valentine’s Days massacre as a sophomore in 2018, only to die on a scooter Tuesday: DEATH comes to Coral Gables – youtube.com/watch?v=qqcfLmKLGHs&t=46s.

Naturally, a teacher committing suicide and a scooter death are awful in Coral Gables. But the death of that senior is one of 113,000 a year in the U.S. Fentanyl is by FAR the biggest killer in history. Tragically we were but one day too late – and now Coral Gables Senior High is one life short.

This is no game, no drama, no joke. We are in a rush to see all U.S. High Schools so we are never too late again. Sponsor the next assembly at FentanylFathers.org.
